In the Life to Celebrate Women's History Month in March
2007-03-07

Public television's national gay and lesbian newsmagazine In the Life will celebrate Women's History Month in March and will spotlight the lives and accomplishments of several extraordinary women. Tennis legend Martina Navratilova hosts episode 1606: 'Leading Ladies.'

In another segment, 'Polar Pioneers,' the show will introduce viewers to Antarctic explorers Ann Bancroft and Liv Arnesen, who shatter the notion that women are too fragile to endure polar exploration.

In the Life will also profile innovative cartoonist Alison Bechdel ( Dykes to Watch Out For ) who, inspired by her own experiences as a lesbian, created several characters through her imagination.

For national airdate listings or to download episodes of In the Life, see inthelifetv.org. 'Leading Ladies' will be available to download on March 27. The episode will air locally on March 26 at 12:30 a.m.
