The Association of Latino Men for Action held its second annual Alvarado/Garcia Scholarship Benefit Nov. 18 to honor the first recipient of the Alvarado/Garcia Scholarship, Andrew Rodriguez. Proceeds from the event will help ALMA continue to expand its pioneering scholarship and mentorship program. The Alvarado/Garcia Scholarship ( AGS ) in collaboration with ALMA was established to recognize and foster outstanding Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Latino/a high school seniors who elect to attend an accredited 2-year college or 4-year university in Illinois.
