Creepiest Site of the Year

www.maskon.com

This is for female latex mask enthusiasts and features tons of pics of men dressed as women. That's normal enough, but what sends this over the top is the life-like latex masks they wear. Well, maybe "life-like" isn't the right adjective. The masks are distinctly mannequin-ish and give the whole affair a very Dawn of the Dead feel. The souless eyes, the rigid inflexible features, the bad dresses—it's sort of like looking at pictures of the Republican National Convention.

Most inexplicable Effort

www.lordofthepeeps.com

What can you say to a man who has amassed an army of hundreds of marshmallow Peeps, dressed them in battle gear, and used them to reenact The Lord of the Rings?

I mean, besides "Bravo!" and "Here's your award for Most Inexplicable Effort."

Grossest Site

www.ratemywound.com

It was a close race between this and the Eurobad design site. Both were, in their own way, extremely painful to look at, but in the end we decided to give the award for Grossest Site to a traditionally gross site. RateMyWound's collection of injury photos made us wince more consistently than any other site this year. As we said in the headline for its original listing: "Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow, ow, ow."

Best Art Site

The competition for Best Art Site was fierce. We had the MOBA and OBAG Bad Art Museums. We had people working with toast. People painting with maggots. People using their asses and genitals as paint stamps. Yes, we even had people working in Peeps. But one artist stood head and Stevie above the rest, exemplifying the things we search for here at WWWeird: an inexplicable premise, a waste of talent, and an obsession incredibly laser-focused area of expertise. The award for Best Art Site goes to Johanna's Paint You with Stevie Nicks site.
