Randy Curwen

Randy Curwen is a Wisconsin native and journalism graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He was a reporter and editor at Rockford Newspapers for four years before coming to Chicago Today in 1972. He joined the Tribune when Today folded in 1974 and has been there ever since, serving as section editor of Tempo, Friday and ( since 1992 ) Travel ( he retired in 2008 ) . In the mid-1970s, he was instrumental in getting the Tribune to rewrite its stylebook and treat the subject of homosexuality in a fairer manner.

Out and Proud in Chicago: An Overview of the City's Gay Community, the book is edited by Tracy Baim and features the contributions of more than 20 prominent historians and journalists. It is published by Surrey Books, an Agate imprint, and is hard cover, 224 pages, 4-color, with nearly 400 photos.
