Linda Shear is a former Chicago musician, and founder of the first open lesbian rock band in the U.S., Family of Women, in Chicago in the early 1970s. The band achieved national recognition and while it was short-lived, it had a long-term impact. Shear and her partner Windflower live in Northern California.
