Linda Shear is a former Chicago musician, and founder of the first open lesbian band in the U.S., Family of Woman, in Chicago in the early 1970s. The band achieved national recognition and while it was short-lived, it had a long-term impact. Shear and her partner Windflower live in Northern California.
