Dan Smith ( left ) and his partner Steve McDonough have broken new TV ground as the Hearty Boys, as both top chefs and philanthropists. They won a contest to become hosts of their own TV show, the first gay couple to have their own syndicated show. They have donated their time and money to numerous gay, AIDS and mainstream causes, including through their Hearty Boys restaurant. They have adopted a son, Nate ( pictured ) , and written a cookbook as well.
